Picture'That Which We Do Not Understand' Book Launch. Tatty Devine, London.
Firstly, thank you so much for visiting my page. As the website title suggests, I am Laurence, runner-up in "the prestigious" (The Times) Wicked Young Writer Awards: Gregory Maguire Award, whose creative writing has appeared in such places as: Londonist, The List, NHK World-Japan, Firewords Magazine and Popshot Quarterly.

I studied Drama and Theatre at the University of Kent, Comparative Literature at Utrecht University, Shakespeare and Theatre at the Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham, and in 2023 I completed my PhD in the Medical Humanities at Northumbria University, exploring literary portrayals of women's domestic medicine during the eighteenth century. I became inspired to start writing
during my university studies, after being immersed in all forms of literature from across the globe and enjoying every moment of it. Since then, I've found inspiration in some of my favourite writers, such as Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, Angela Carter and Tennessee Williams. Personally, though, I enjoy writing literary fiction and horror.

Picture'Inspired by Gandhi' Book Launch. City Library, Birmingham.
While I love fiction and literature, I also adore theatre and I hope I can help foster its future in some small way. I also have a passion for video games, which I firmly believe to be an underrated artistic medium, with games like Bioshock having some of the most immersive narrative imaginable. It confuses me that there are people who condemn games as 'frivolous' when they can draw us into a world like no other medium can.

Here on this website I have catalogued all my endeavours to date, in what I hope to be a relatively clear fashion. You'll find pages dedicated to my publications, examples of my published stories, as well as a list of any awards and accolades I may have collected. If for any reason you would like to contact me, please fill out the form available down below, or on the 'Contact Form' page on the 'Home' drop-down list. Once again, thank you so, so much for reading all of this, and I hope you have a fantastic day!
