Dinner time was an hour ago – yet her dish remained desolate. The sun had long since retreated: no sun, no warmth, no distraction in the form of a semi-catatonic doze for the little cat. There was only one thing for a scorned feline to do!
Arching her back and stretching nonchalantly, Mittens jumped up onto her owner's mantelpiece and began to brush around a porcelain vase – one that swayed precariously with every touch.
A just cat, with a rare sense of chivalry, Mittens let out a hearty mew to alert her owner to the potential impending disaster – 'Fair warning,' she thought.
No response, her owner didn't rush in like some knight to cater to the cat's hunger pangs, as she'd hoped he would. There was nothing else for it, lifting her right paw high into the sky – the proceeding crash would surely grab the selfish lout's attention...
